Jefferson County roofer banned from doing business in Kansas, ordered to repay consumers

TOPEKA – (July 24, 2018) – A Jefferson County roofer has been banned from doing business in Kansas and ordered to repay two consumers after being found in violation of Kansas consumer protection laws, Attorney General Derek Schmidt said. Sonny Peterson, of Nortonville, who did business as S&J Carpentry/Roofing and S&J Carpentry, was enjoined from operating as a roofing contractor in the State of Kansas unless and until he properly registers with the attorney general’s office, as required by law. Jefferson County District Judge Gary L. Nafziger last week entered the injunction after the company failed to respond to a lawsuit filed by the attorney general in 2016.
